ActivityHero began processing credit card payments with Stripe starting on August 6, 2024.
Historical reference. ActivityHero completed its move from WePay to Stripe in 2024. This article is kept for reference and describes a transition that has already finished. For current payment setup, see Stripe Onboarding.
Why did ActivityHero change payment processors?
JPMorgan Chase, the parent company of WePay, sunset the version of WePay payment processing that ActivityHero used in 2024, and offered no alternate service that met the needs of ActivityHero customers.
What was the timeline to transition to Stripe?
ActivityHero providers set up their Stripe account during the transition, with no impact to transactions or payments already in progress. Providers continued to be paid through WePay until the switch completed. The deadline to finish account setup was July 26, 2024.
Did the fees change?
The fees charged by ActivityHero did not change. Before the transition, the credit card fee was refunded whenever a full refund was issued. Since moving to Stripe, credit card and other fees are refunded only when the purchase is eligible for the 24-hour cancellation.
Were families affected by this transition?
Credit cards that were saved and charged through WePay were migrated to Stripe, so customers could continue completing registrations without re-entering their details.
Could refunds be issued for payments made before the switch to Stripe?
Refunds for payments processed by WePay could be issued until October 1, 2024. That window has now closed.
Do I need a separate Stripe account if I already have one?
Yes. You need a separate Stripe account connected to ActivityHero. You can confirm the account is connected when the ActivityHero logo is displayed on the left side of the Stripe page.
